Cotton Canary - Responsibly Produced Clothing, Made in USA
Clothes for work that work for you.
There is much discussion about who a modern woman should be, how she should act, what she should wear. At Cotton Canary, they hold dear a few core values:
Clothes should embolden you. As women are making unprecedented advances, fashion trends in the workplace have remained boxed in. What we wear is an extension of who we are, and it is the one form of art in which we all engage. Your outfit needs to match your attitude and let you shine. Cotton Canary garments are designed to flatter with a feminine elegance.
Clothes should run on your schedule. Their collections transition seamlessly from day to date and are able to keep up with whatever comes your way. Comfort and polish are pillars of each collection. No fidgeting or adjusting; just a perfect fit.
Clothes should be quality made and long lasting. Sewn in the USA, each piece carries quality craftsmanship with high-end construction. They also invest in superior fabric that will go the extra mile with you.
Clothes shouldtake a stand. Each Cotton Canary piece is inspired by you and proclaims that professionals are bold, not boring. They are also committed to helping others get back on their feet, by donating a portion of profits to charity (see CSR section below).

OUR CSR PROGRAM
Giving back is closely interwoven into Cotton Canary’s DNA.
We are partnering with a variety of charities that have one goal: to see a world where women and children are safe and uncompromised in their living conditions.
Human trafficking is a cause that is close to our hearts. We are committed to the fight against modern slavery. In our long-term vision, we seek to support not only the freedom fight for these women, but also their financial independence by hiring them at Cotton Canary.
And we would be remiss if we assumed trouble only lurks in our adult years. It is sometimes hard for kids to get back on their feet through no fault of their own. For that reason, Cotton Canary also commits to giving a portion of its profits as financial assistance to those wishing to expand their families through adoption. It is often a long and expensive process, and we are passionate about the help we can offer to unite these new families in the least arduous way.
10% percent of our profits go to these causes.
Our growth means more resources to continue our support, and we are grateful to have you with us as an integral part of this journey.
MEET THE FOUNDER
Every brand has some unlikely beginning. Does Cotton Canary have one?
You can say that it is the least likely of any beginnings. Let’s tally this up – I was not exposed to the fashion industry at a young age; I grew up and worked in Washington, D.C.; I studied business and education in school; and I have no background in fashion design. Not exactly a promising start…
To add, I have always chosen the practical path in life - consulting, finance, operations. I did this mostly out of fear of the unknown and leaving a career that was always safe and secure. Once I decided to stop living with this feeling and allow myself the freedom to take a risk, I finally took that first step towards building Cotton Canary.
Was there something that you encountered in your own career that inspired you to create a collection for professional, working women?
I have had great opportunities as a woman, a student and a professional, but being taken seriously in the workplace has not always come easily.
Like so many other women, I have had to find my way to stand out, to have my opinion heard and to command respect. I know a lot of women have had similar struggles, and I wanted to create a company that helps us express ourselves with dignity. Cotton Canary is designed to celebrate women and give them the armor they need to tackle whatever the day may bring.
I also wanted to empower working women to be more daring and true to themselves. I spent the last decade working in the capital of the most powerful nation in the world, surrounded by many women wielding tremendous influence. And yet, day-in and day-out I felt like I would leave my personality on the shelf on my way to work.
Fashion in the workplace is still very stifled. We default to suits, or been-there, done-that pants with button-down shirts. The ultimate inspiration was to make clothing that begins to embody all the richness and personality we bring to the office, that isn’t just a slightly modified version of menswear for women to fit into.
We are committed to quality craftsmanship and responsible production. Every garment is Made in the USA and produced in small batches, which enables us to pay meticulous attention to construction. Also, not carrying a large inventory means we relieve the pressure of producing as cheaply as possible. All this allows us to focus more on the quality of each piece to bring you a limited edition design.
Simply put, the model makes our clothes planet-friendly and well-made.
